American JKA Karate Association National Team 1997

Results of the 4th World Shotokan Karate Association 1997 Tournament

This past September 1997, the American JKA Karate Association represented the United States in the 4th World Shotokan Karate Association Championship.

The US team members were selected via performance elimination competitions at various tournaments and training camps throughout the year.

The American team was well represented by a cross section of the finest athletes from AJKA Headquarters and affiliate member clubs.

The Germany team was positioned as favorites to win in all categories, while the United States team was viewed as the underdogs. There were many upsets and surprises for everyone at this event. The results speak for themselves:
